A chapter book or chapterbook is a story book intended for intermediate readers, generally age 7-10. [1] [2] Unlike picture books for beginning readers, a chapter book tells the story primarily through prose, rather than pictures. But, the family, it seems, is awake because they were killed violently. They're mostly interesting-enough stories, insofar as it's possible to write such a thing using a restricted set of spellings, and there are a couple that my students have wanted to keep reading, to find out what happens, even after the lesson ended.

Yesterday I talked about popular pumpkin pictures books for the younger kids. What began then we do not fully learn until the end of the novel, though we will soon learn more about Boo - much of it misleading or inaccurate. This may be so, for when the Magyars conquered the country in the eleventh century they found the Huns settled in it. These aren’t for really young kids, but I also loved reading Maniac Magee, Savvy, Remarkable, and the Giver to my kids.
